Feria de Valladolid is organising a #MarketPlace dedicated to the wine tourism sector, with a clear international perspective, on 1st and 2nd March 2023. FINE #WineTourismExpo brings together wineries, wine routes, designations of origin, tour operators and international travel agencies in its fourth edition with the aim of creating a networking space that favours commercial agreements between professionals.

Wine tourism is attracting more and more long-distance visitors, as pointed out in the report published by the Portuguese Tourism Organisation. This study analyses the country’s role within the European context with regard to the wine sector, as well as its position within wine tourism.

The report points out that Spain, France and Italy are the countries with the largest surface area of vineyards, representing 13.1%, 10.9% and 9.8% respectively. Portugal ranks fifth in this ranking with 2.7% of the world total. Within the neighbouring country, the production volumes of areas such as the Douro, Lisbon and Alentejo stand out.

Among the most outstanding motivations of tourists when consuming activities and experiences related to the world of wine are learning, discovering and having unique experiences while interacting in the process. They are also motivated by meeting local people, having access to spaces that are not usually visited by tourists, as well as appreciating the landscape and cultural heritage of the area.

According to the study data, countries such as Italy, Portugal, Spain and France are ranked as the best tourist destinations in the world in 2021, followed by New Zealand and Greece. This means that, in order to approach wine tourism, it is necessary to do so from an international perspective.

Feria de Valladolid has created a framework around wine tourism that is committed to specialisation and the global scope of its contents; a great networking space where you can receive training on trends and developments in the sector. The next edition of FINE #WineTourismExpo will be held on 1 and 2 March at Feria de Valladolid.
