WINE TOURISM

Valladolid is the wine-growing area in the world with the greatest variety of excellent wines within the same geographical framework. Five Denominations of Origin, a Protected Geographical Identity and prestigious brands make up a magnificent oenological proposal.

The white from Rueda, the rosé from Cigales or the red from Ribera del Duero, León or Toro make Valladolid a wine paradise in which a great wine tourism offer has emerged throughout the province. As well as visiting wineries we will be able to live thousands of experiences inked to the wine culture.

Wineries, hotels, restaurants, wine routes and awarded spaces, with official recognitions and global relevance that are benchmarks in the industry enhance an unmatched oenological and tourist offer.

GASTRONOMY

The tapas culture and the incredible gastronomic proposals of Valladolid are as special and unique as its renowned wines. You will find hundreds of places in the heart of the city, over different tapas areas around Martí y Monsó, Portugalete, Universidad or San Martín squares. You can move between them on foot and enjoy the marriage between gastronomy and wines from the five denominations of origin that meet in this province (Ribera del Duero, Rueda, Toro, Cigales and Tierra de León), without missing heritage, since these areas are located in the historic centre of Valladolid.

The restored Mercado del Val, a 19th century monument nowadays combines the stalls of a traditional market with gastrobars and entertainment on weekends, as well as tastings, which have made it an unavoidable referent on any tapas route in Valladolid.

CULTURE

Valladolid is a modern and open city where the latest trends, together with centuries of cultural tradition and historical moments of national and international relevance come together in the same space. Valladolid is a city with a wide cultural offer. You can spend the afternoon visiting one of its museums – we have the best polychrome wood collections in the country in the Museo Nacional de Escultura (National Sculpture Museum) and oriental art at the Museo de Arte Oriental (Oriental Art Museum) and a large catalogue of contemporary Spanish works in the Patio Herreriano. In addition, in the afternoon and at night you will find different proposals for theatre, dance, music or shows for families at Teatro Calderón and at Laboratorio de las Artes de Valladolid (Valladolid Arts Laboratory).

Take advantage of nightfall to discover a completely different Valladolid. The lighting of the historic centre, awarded internationally, invites you to visit, once again, a city of dreamlike airs flooded by Ríos de Luz (Rivers of light).

Without leaving the historic centre we recommend that you visit one of the five municipal exhibition halls, completely free to access, and two houses with a lot of history: the place where José Zorrilla was born and one in which Miguel de Cervantes lived which is the only one among all in Spain that is preserved.
