Shooting Locations Marketplace, the hiring marketplace for audiovisual industry professionals, will this year feature the addition of new filming destinations and industry companies. Professionals from 24 countries will gather on October 15 and 16 at Feria de Valladolid, the organizing entity of this event together with Spain Film Commission. The Junta de Castilla y León and the City Council of Valladolid also collaborate in its development.
Shooting Locations Marketplace celebrates its fifth anniversary, and among the highlights is the first-time participation of film commissions and location scouts from the East, such as Thailand, South Korea, the Saudi region of Al-Ula, and Kurdistan; as well as the Ibero-American Network of Film Commissions in another geographical area.
“From the outset, we have emphasized the global nature of Shooting Locations Marketplace. In the previous edition, we made a significant leap in terms of international presence, and this year that trend is being consolidated,” explained Alberto Alonso, General Director of Feria de Valladolid.
The President of Spain Film Commission, Juan Manuel Guimeráns, also highlighted the national sector’s support for the project, “as evidenced by the involvement of a large number of Spain Film Commission members, as well as the growth of private participation, both from companies providing services for productions and studios. Shooting Locations Marketplace also reflects the strength of the Spanish audiovisual industry and its international relevance.”
The increase in private companies is one of the features of this fifth edition of Shooting, with 19 companies of different profiles: recording studios, hotels, and service providers for productions from Spain, Portugal, Jordan, Estonia, and Hungary.
Among the newcomers are Stellarium Studios, located in Ciudad Rodrigo, and Pedralonga Estudios, in A Coruña, joining Ciudad de la Luz in Alicante. Hotel chains participating include Paradores, Radisson, Minihollywood in Almería, THB, Blau, and Concept Group.
The central focus of Shooting Locations Marketplace will again be the hiring marketplace, where around 70 location scouts and producers working with major companies such as Amazon, Annapurna, CBS Studios, South Korea’s Climax, Focus Features, Marvel, and others will meet. Professionals working in the strong U.S. and U.K. markets make up 55 percent of the total.
Meanwhile, Mar Sancho, Deputy Minister of Cultural Action of the Junta de Castilla y León, highlighted “the excellent moment the region is experiencing in film productions, with 339 shoots in Castilla y León in 2024, including feature films, series, TV programs, and advertising productions, an increase of 27.93 percent compared to the previous year.” A trend “that we are seeing continue in 2025, strengthening our position as a destination for film locations and audiovisual projects.”
Blanca Jiménez, City Councilor for Tourism, Events, and City Branding of Valladolid, emphasized that “this marketplace, unique in Spain, in a sector that is so important both economically and socially worldwide, being held in Valladolid, is a clear example of our city’s ability to host professional and unique events throughout the year. We are a city of cinema in every aspect, from location to screening room.”
The Shooting Locations Marketplace program also includes conferences and roundtables analyzing topics such as the rise of Asian locations in international productions, the search for new settings, and the challenges of being competitive in a global market. The opening conference will be delivered by producer Anna Saura, responsible for the first documentary co-produced by Spain and India.
Shooting Locations Marketplace activities go beyond the Feria de Valladolid venue, offering location scouts and producers the opportunity to visit the territories and sites they will learn about during work meetings. This year, eight trips will depart on Friday, October 17, to Castilla y León, Andalusia, Rías Baixas, Asturias, Barcelona, the Canary Islands, and, for the first time, international destinations: Central Portugal and Norway.
Shooting Locations Marketplace maintains collaboration agreements with the most important professional associations in the sector: Location Managers Guild International (LMGI), European Film Commissions Network (EUFCN), Crew United, and Profilm.
