Gran Canaria will once again participate in Shooting Locations Marketplace 2025, following its presence at the October 2024 edition.
Represented by the Gran Canaria Film Commission, the island returns to this international boutique event with a clear goal: to consolidate its position as one of the most complete and efficient filming destinations on the global audiovisual scene.
The event, held on October 15 and 16 in Valladolid, brings together production companies, location scouts, film commissions and service providers in an environment designed to close business deals, exchange knowledge and activate new opportunities.
Gran Canaria returns to this strategic meeting point with the experience of hosting numerous high-level international productions and a consolidated offer that combines unique landscapes, competitive technical conditions and attractive incentives for the industry.
Landscape, climate and infrastructure: the keys to audiovisual appeal
One of Gran Canaria’s major strengths is its geographical diversity. In less than an hour’s travel, you can move from desert landscapes to laurel forests, from volcanic beaches to a European-style city.
This ability to concentrate diverse settings in a compact area has earned it the title of “a miniature continent,” ideal for recreating locations from around the world without leaving the island.
This, combined with an exceptional climate—4,800 hours of light per year and an average temperature of 22 ºC—offers production companies unmatched logistical reliability. The island allows year-round filming under stable weather conditions and high-quality natural light.
In addition, Gran Canaria has top-level infrastructure: two sound stages of 1,200 and 1,800 m², and the imminent launch of an XR Virtual Production Studio with a cutting-edge LED volume.
This unique mix has attracted major productions like Fast & Furious 6, The Mother and Jack Ryan, as well as campaigns for brands such as Zara, Porsche and Yves Saint Laurent. It has also hosted international reality shows like Love Island and Ex on the Beach.
A Film Commission that acts as a strategic partner
The work of the Gran Canaria Film Commission has been essential to turning the island into a reliable, competitive and professionalized destination.
Beyond international promotion, it provides full support to production companies: consultancy, permits, tailored location scouting, logistics coordination and direct access to a network of suppliers with extensive experience in the audiovisual sector.
This network covers all areas of a production: animation, post-production, sound, VFX, equipment rental, transport, casting, catering and art direction.
The Film Commission also facilitates access to tax incentives, with especially advantageous conditions for animation projects.
Thanks to this service ecosystem, Gran Canaria is not only a spectacular natural set, but also a functional, efficient and professional production environment.
Its participation in Shooting Locations Marketplace 2025 will be another opportunity to strengthen ties with the international industry and demonstrate that the island is more ready than ever to host new productions.
