· Organised by Feria de Valladolid and Spain Film Commission, it will be held on 15 and 16 October
· It will bring together national and international location scouts, production companies and filming destinations
Shooting Locations Marketplace, the contracting marketplace for audiovisual industry professionals, is celebrating its fifth edition this year. It will be held on 15 and 16 October at Feria de Valladolid, the event’s organiser together with the Spain Film Commission.
Shooting Locations Marketplace is open to the participation of location scouts, production companies, service companies and filming destinations, both territories managed by film commissions or film offices and private spaces: hotel establishments, estates or other companies interested in hosting film, series, video recordings, etc.
The 2024 event saw an upward trend in the number of participants, especially in the international sphere, with 19 destinations represented. There was also an increase in the number of interviews between supply and demand, with over 1,300 scheduled appointments.
The 2024 edition was the best of all those held, in the words of the general director of Feria de Valladolid, Alberto Alonso, who stressed that the 69 location scouts, producers and creatives from the international audiovisual industry ‘had before them interesting job opportunities in places with very different profiles’ and stressed that 70 percent of them work in two powerful audiovisual markets: the United States and Great Britain.
For his part, the president of the Spain Film Commission, Juan Manuel Guimeráns, described the Shooting Locations Marketplace as the European market of reference in the sector, ‘despite having only four editions, it has established itself as the ideal market for all types of national and international film commissions and film offices,’ he explained.
The contents of Shooting Locations Marketplace also include other points of work, such as the programme of conferences and the familiarisation trips that the location scouts make to different territories throughout Spain. During the four previous editions, 67 professionals from different profiles and backgrounds have participated as speakers and more than 20 fam-trips have taken place in destinations such as the Islas Canarias, Andalucía, Ibiza, Bilbao, Vigo, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Valencia, Madrid and Cataluña.
Participation in international markets
Shooting Locations Marketplace will participate again in May at the Marché du Film-Festival de Cannes, to present its contents to film commissions and professionals from the international audiovisual industry. This international presentation is in addition to the one held last December at Focus London.
Shooting Locations Marketplace has collaboration agreements with the most important professional associations in the sector: Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI), and Location Managers Guild International (LMGI), as well as with European associations such as the European Film Commissions Network (EUFCN), The Production Guild of Great Britain (PGGB), Produktionsallianz Services, and the European Producers Club (EPC).
