The Asturias Film Commission, a non-profit public initiative created in 2016, has as its main objective to provide producers and professionals of the audiovisual sector with all the necessary information for filming in this beautiful region of northern Spain. This organisation, which has been instrumental in the development of numerous film and television productions, will be present at the Shooting Locations Marketplace, to be held at the Feria de Valladolid from 15 to 16 October.

The two worlds merged in Asturias

Asturias, known for its varied geography and rich heritage, offers endless possibilities for audiovisual productions. From its impressive mountains and coastline to its lush forests and rushing rivers, its beaches and spectacular cliffs, the region boasts a diversity of landscapes that make it an ideal setting for any type of filming. In addition, its historic sites and modern buildings, together with its industrial and palatial heritage, add a unique attraction that does not go unnoticed by directors and producers.

In recent years, the Principality of Asturias has been chosen as the setting for numerous films, series and television commercials. Among the most outstanding productions that have found their home in Asturias are the feature film ‘El secreto de Marrowbone’ and the series ‘Alma’, both directed by Sergio G. Sánchez, as well as ‘Bajo la piel de lobo’ by Samu Fuentes, and the series ‘La Zona’ created by brothers Alberto and Jorge Sánchez-Cabezudo. Other notable productions include ‘Si yo fuera rico’ by Álvaro Fernández Armero, ‘Infiesto’ by Patxi Amezcua, ‘A todo tren. Destino Asturias’ by Santiago Segura, “Nasdrovia” by Marc Vigil and “Lo que arde” by Oliver Laxe. For its collaboration in the latter, the Asturias Film Commission was awarded the San Sebastian – Guipuzkoa Film Commission Award in 2019.
