• Representatives from 24 countries gather at this event organized by Feria de Valladolid and Spain Film Commission

Shooting Locations Marketplace, the hiring marketplace for the film industry, kicks off this Wednesday with a schedule of 1,581 pre-arranged meetings between location professionals, producers, film commissions, studios, hotel chains, and production support companies. This represents an 11% increase compared to last year, driven by growing participation from the supply side.

Shooting Locations Marketplace is organized by Feria de Valladolid and Spain Film Commission, with the support of the Junta de Castilla y León and the Valladolid City Council.

Among the highlights of this fifth edition is the presence of territories and location scouts from Asia, Latin America, and Central and Northern Europe, including Thailand, South Korea, the Ibero-American Film Commissions Network, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Scotland, and more.

Alberto Alonso, General Director of Feria de Valladolid, emphasized “the global nature of Shooting Locations Marketplace, a goal that is being consolidated this year following the significant qualitative leap achieved in the previous edition in terms of international presence.”

At the national level, Juan Manuel Guimeráns, President of Spain Film Commission, underlined “the support of our partners and their commitment to this project, as evidenced by the presence of more than half of our members, as well as the growth of private sector participation, with auxiliary service companies, studios, and hotel chains offering themselves as filming locations.”

Indeed, the increase in private companies is one of the defining features of this fifth edition, with 19 companies from different sectors: recording studios, hotels, and providers of production services from Spain, Portugal, Jordan, Estonia, and Hungary.

Among the highlights of this edition are Stellarium Studios, located in Ciudad Rodrigo, and Pedralonga Studios in A Coruña, joining Ciudad de la Luz in Alicante. Hotel chains participating include Paradores, Radisson, Minihollywood in Almería, THB, Blau, and Concept Group.

At the heart of Shooting Locations Marketplace is, once again, the hiring marketplace, bringing together 67 location scouts and producers who work with major companies such as Amazon, Annapurna, CBS Studios, South Korea’s Climax, Focus Features, Marvel, and more. Professionals operating in the highly competitive US and UK markets account for 55% of the total.

The event program also includes conferences and roundtables covering topics such as the rise of Asian locations in international productions, the search for new filming sites, and the challenges of remaining competitive in a global market. The opening conference will feature a dialogue between producer Anna Saura, responsible for Spain’s first co-produced documentary with India, and the President of Spain Film Commission.

Shooting Locations Marketplace extends beyond the Feria de Valladolid venue, giving location scouts and producers the opportunity to visit the territories and sites that will be discussed in the business meetings. This year, eight trips will take place on Friday, October 17, to Castilla y León, Andalusia, Rías Baixas, Asturias, Barcelona, the Canary Islands, and, for the first time, international destinations including Central Portugal and Norway.

Shooting Locations Marketplace continues to maintain partnerships with the sector’s leading professional associations, including Location Managers Guild International (LMGI), European Film Commissions Network (EUFCN), Crew United, and Profilm.
