The relationship between València and the audiovisual world is growing stronger every year. With a natural and urban backdrop capable of representing almost any universe—real or imagined—the city and its province have become one of the most attractive filming destinations in Europe. That versatility, along with the professional support offered by València Film Office, will be showcased on 15 and 16 October at Shooting Locations Marketplace 2025, the boutique event bringing together the key players of the industry in Valladolid.
With more than 2,000 years of history, architecture from every era, beaches, natural parks, palaces, caves, gardens, charming streets and both ancient and modern bridges, València offers a huge variety of possible settings in just a few square kilometres. All this under a mild, stable climate with more than 300 days of sunshine a year and a unique natural light that, as Sorolla once captured on canvas, gives any shot a distinct visual texture.
From Star Wars to Netflix: a city made for the screen
In recent years, València and its surrounding areas have hosted a growing number of high-profile productions, both national and international. The most striking example is the second season of Andor, a series from the Star Wars universe produced by Lucasfilm and streamed on Disney+, which was shot at the City of Arts and Sciences and the castle of Xàtiva. The cast and crew have consistently praised the magnitude of the setting, the authenticity of the environment, and how difficult it would have been to recreate anything similar in a studio.
The 2024 filming calendar includes titles such as La Ruta 2, La viuda negra, Mala influencia and Favaritx. In 2025, productions already filmed or scheduled include La Cena, Femení singular, Después de Kim, La mala madre, Looking for Michael and the second season of Berlín. El Cautivo, directed by Alejandro Amenábar, was also partially shot at the Palace of the Counts of Cervellón in Anna, located in the interior of the province.
In all of these cases, the support of València Film Office has been essential in handling permits, advising on locations, and connecting producers with local professionals.
Infrastructure, local talent and a growing creative ecosystem
Beyond its wide range of locations, València offers infrastructure that supports productions of all scales. The province has more than 40,000 accommodation options—from luxury hotels to tourist apartments—an extensive hospitality network, and excellent land, sea and air connectivity with major international hubs. High-speed rail links to Madrid (1h30, more than 10 daily departures) ensure smooth logistical coordination.
The local audiovisual sector adds to this environment with a strong network of animation studios, service companies, set construction specialists, VFX professionals and fully equipped soundstages. València Film Office provides support with filming permits, initial location scouting, and access to local contacts. It also works closely with other film offices across the Valencia region to ensure smooth productions throughout the territory.
València Film Office will be present at Shooting Locations Marketplace 2025, reaffirming its role as a strategic partner for producers seeking light, efficiency and unforgettable settings. Because in València, you don’t just film — you create stories from the land itself.
