Zamora has plenty of places to be a focus at FINE 2025

The Zamora Wine Route has established itself as a benchmark wine tourism destination in Castilla y León, offering visitors an immersion into the region’s rich wine-making and cultural tradition. Its participation in the next edition of FINE underlines its commitment to the promotion of wine tourism and the dissemination of its historical and natural heritage.
The ‘land of wine’
Situated in the area influenced by the Duero River and along the historic Vía de la Plata, the region known as Tierra del Vino has been, until well into the 20th century, the mainstay of the rural economy, which still persists in its centuries-old vineyards. This region covers an area of almost 1,800 km², distributed among 46 municipalities in the province of Zamora and 10 in the province of Salamanca.
The cultivation of the vine in this area dates back to the 11th century, as evidenced by the Romanesque artistic manifestations present in the region. Over the centuries, viticulture has been a fundamental economic and cultural activity, reflecting the identity and character of its inhabitants.

An ideal place to see Romanesque art
The Zamora Wine Route offers a wide range of wine tourism experiences tailored to various visitor profiles. The traditional wineries of the region, many of which still retain their original function, open their doors to show the winemaking process.
These visits allow wine tourists to learn first-hand about the techniques used in production, from vineyard care to ageing in underground cellars excavated centuries ago. In addition to visits and tastings, the route proposes activities such as gastronomic workshops, hiking routes among vineyards, and visits to historical monuments ranging from 11th-century Romanesque to 20th-century Modernism. The offer is complemented by charming rural accommodations and a varied local gastronomy that pairs perfectly with the region’s wines.
Total collaboration among all agents
The wineries of the Zamora Wine Route have demonstrated a firm commitment to quality and innovation in their production processes. Although the Tierra del Vino de Zamora Denomination of Origin was officially recognised in 2007, the region has experienced a resurgence in its winemaking activity, thanks to the efforts of winemakers and oenologists dedicated to recovering and enhancing native varieties.

This commitment is reflected in the adoption of sustainable practices in vine cultivation and the implementation of modern winemaking techniques that respect the traditional characteristics of the region’s wines. The collaboration between wineries, institutions, and cultural entities has been key to positioning Zamora as a wine tourism destination of excellence, offering high-quality products and services to visitors.
The participation of the Zamora Wine Route in FINE #WineTourism Marketplace represents a unique opportunity to discover a region that combines history, nature, and a deep passion for wine. Attendees are invited to visit the route’s stand to obtain detailed information about the available experiences and plan a visit that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.
