WINE TOURISM IN THE CERRATO PALENTINO ADDS TO THE NEXT EDITION OF FINE
The Association for the Integral Rural Development of Cerrato Palentino (ADRI) will attend FINE #Winetourismexpo, the International Wine Tourism Fair, on March 1 and 2.
The Association for the Integral Rural Development of Cerrato Palentino is a non-profit organization created in 2000. The Association seeks to promote the economic, social and cultural development of the Palencia area known as the Cerrato, seeking the integral development of the region and respect for its resources and energy values.
The Cerrato Palentino region, located in the south of the province of Palencia, offers natural resources and rural architecture linked to wine, with more than 30 districts of traditional wineries. In Castilla y León, four winery districts have been declared Sites of Cultural Interest in the category of Ethnological Ensemble, two of which are located in the Cerrato region: Baltanás, with 374 wineries excavated on 6 levels on a small hill. In 2020 Baltanás received a Special Mention as Best Wine Tourism Municipality in the V Wine Tourism Awards Wine Routes of Spain organized by ACEVIN.
The subway cellars of the region and the traditional winemaking are part of the hallmark and expression of a unique rural architecture of the villages that form the region. All of them represent a winemaking tradition that currently has Arlanza and Cigales Designations of Origin.
