Toro’s strength will be present at FINE 2025

Ruta del vino de Toro

The Toro Wine Route stands as a prominent wine tourism destination in Castilla y León, encompassing territories in the provinces of Zamora and Valladolid. This route, which will participate in the next edition of FINE, offers visitors a deep immersion into the rich winemaking tradition of the region, complemented by a historical and cultural heritage of great relevance.

A grape of excellent quality

The Toro Denomination of Origin has its roots in a winemaking tradition that dates back to the 1st century BC, when the ancient Greeks introduced the culture of wine to the local Celtic tribes. Over the centuries, especially during the Middle Ages, the wines of Toro gained renown, being traded in cities such as Seville and Palencia.

Phylloxera, which devastated European vineyards in the 19th century, affected this region to a lesser extent thanks to its sandy soils, allowing the preservation of centuries-old vines that still produce high-quality grapes today. This rich historical heritage has consolidated Toro as a reference in the wine world.

A first-class historical heritage

The Toro Wine Route covers seventeen municipalities, offering a wide range of experiences tailored to various visitor profiles. The local wineries, many of them with centuries of history, open their doors to show the winemaking process, highlighting the native variety Tinta de Toro. These visits allow wine tourists to learn about everything from the vineyards to the traditional underground cellars where the wines are aged.

In addition to winery visits, the route offers complementary activities such as guided tastings, gastronomic pairings with local products, and oenology workshops. The natural environment, dominated by the Duero River, provides opportunities for hiking and cycling routes among vineyards and riverside landscapes.

The historical heritage of the area is equally notable, with monuments such as the Collegiate Church of Santa María la Mayor in Toro, a Romanesque gem, and various churches and castles that tell the history of the region. The local gastronomy, with traditional dishes that pair perfectly with the wines of the denomination, completes an excellent wine tourism offer.

A wine of great character

The wineries of the Toro Wine Route combine tradition and innovation to offer products of the highest quality. The Tinta de Toro variety, perfectly adapted to the region’s continental climate, produces red wines of great intensity and character.

The commitment to sustainable practices and modern winemaking techniques has positioned Toro wines in national and international markets, being recognised for their excellence and authenticity.

The participation of the Toro Wine Route in FINE #WineTourism Marketplace is an invitation to discover a region where wine is the undisputed protagonist. Attendees are encouraged to visit the route’s stand to obtain detailed information about the available wine tourism experiences and plan a visit that combines culture, nature, and oenology.
