Taboadella wants to make its proposal known to the world at FINE 2025

In the heart of the Dão wine region in Portugal is Taboadella, a winery that combines centuries of tradition with a contemporary vision of wine tourism. Owned by the Amorim family, Taboadella stands as a benchmark in the production of high quality wines and in offering unique wine tourism experiences.
Its participation in the upcoming FINE #WineTourism Marketplace underlines its commitment to the dissemination of Portuguese wine culture and its openness to new international markets.
Family work is reflected in every bottle
The history of Taboadella goes back more than 15 centuries, making it one of the oldest wine estates in the Dão region. Located on a triangular plateau in Silvã de Cima, between the valleys of Pereiro and Sequeiro, and overlooking the majestic Serra da Estrela, the winery has witnessed countless generations dedicated to the cultivation of vines. This historical legacy is reflected in the ‘Roman soul’ of Taboadella, which bears witness to its rich ancestral heritage.
The Amorim family, renowned for its dedication to the wine industry, has revitalised the property, fusing traditional practices with modern techniques to preserve and enhance the unique identity of its wines.

The wine-gathering atmosphere is in every corner
Taboadella has developed a comprehensive wine tourism proposal that invites visitors to immerse themselves in the world of wine and local culture. Among the outstanding experiences are:
- Guided tours and wine tastings: Taboadella’s ‘Wine House’ is the starting point for exploring the winery. Located next to the garden of the main house and close to a Roman wine press and a picturesque lake, it offers a welcoming environment where visitors can schedule their visits, taste a selection of wines and purchase local products, such as the famed Serra da Estrela cheeses and regional handicrafts. Guided tours provide a detailed insight into the winemaking process, from the vineyard to the glass, highlighting the particularities of the terroir and the indigenous grape varieties. Opening hours vary according to the season: from November to March, from 10.30am to 5.30pm, and from April to October, from 10.30am to 7pm, closed on Mondays.
- Personalised experiences: for those looking for a deeper immersion, Taboadella offers activities such as ‘A Day at Taboadella’, which includes tours of the vineyards, visits to historical sites within the property and the opportunity to meet the local fauna and flora. In addition, brunches on the winery’s terrace and Sunday walks are organised, providing visitors with multiple ways to connect with the region’s natural surroundings and winemaking tradition.
Effort linked to quality
The winery has been designed by architect Carlos Castanheira, who has achieved a symbiosis between sustainability and functionality. Using natural materials such as wood and cork, the structure blends harmoniously into the surrounding landscape, reflecting Taboadella’s respect for the environment.

The vineyard, which covers 42 hectares, is cultivated without irrigation, perpetuating traditional methods that guarantee the authenticity and quality of the 26 plots in integrated production. This practice, together with a planting density of 3,500 plants per hectare and an average yield of 4,000 kg per hectare, ensures a slow ripening of the grapes, resulting in elegant, fresh wines of great complexity.
Taboadella’s participation in the FINE #WineTourism Marketplace represents an exceptional opportunity for wine lovers to discover the richness and diversity of the Dão region. Its combination of deep history, commitment to quality and diverse wine tourism offerings make it a must-visit for those seeking authentic wine experiences. All interested parties are invited to visit Taboadella’s stand at the fair for more information and to plan a visit to this iconic Portuguese winery.
