Assovini Sicilia: promoting the excellence of Sicilian wine at the Valladolid Wine Fair

Founded in 1998, Assovini Sicilia is an association that brings together 101 Sicilian wineries with the aim of promoting the quality and authenticity of the region’s wine in national and international markets. Their participation in the upcoming edition of FINE highlights their commitment to spreading Sicily’s rich winemaking tradition and strengthening its enological identity.
The culmination of visionary work
The creation of Assovini Sicilia was initiated by three prominent producers: Diego Planeta, Giacomo Rallo, and Lucio Tasca d’Almerita. These visionaries recognised the need for a joint platform to present Sicilian wines to the world and highlight the diversity and quality that characterise the island.
Since its foundation, the association has worked to unify small, medium, and large wine companies, promoting common goals and strengthening the “Assovini Sicilia” brand as a symbol of excellence and tradition.

Enjoying wine in contact with nature
Wine tourism has become a key tool for Assovini Sicilia in enhancing the territory and wine culture. The associated wineries offer a wide range of experiences for visitors that go beyond traditional wine tastings. Activities such as wine trekking, yoga among the vineyards, open-air concerts, picnics among the vines, and Sicilian cooking classes allow wine tourists to immerse themselves in the essence of the island. Additionally, some wineries organise night harvests, providing a unique perspective on the winemaking process.
The wine tourism infrastructure is notable: 90% of the associated wineries have tasting facilities, 32% offer accommodation, and 30% provide dining services. This diversified offer caters to different visitor profiles, from enthusiasts to experts, providing a complete experience that combines oenology, gastronomy, and culture.
Constant evolution in methodology
Assovini Sicilia has shown a constant ability to adapt and evolve. In 2024, the association presented the report “Cultivating the Future. La Sicilia del vino si racconta,” in collaboration with the University of Messina. This study highlights the wineries’ focus on sustainability, innovation, and research, with particular emphasis on generational transition and digitalisation. The new generations are playing a strategic role in business management, ensuring the continuity and modernisation of winemaking practices.

Additionally, the association has launched initiatives such as “WineinSicily.com,” a webzine dedicated to wine and tourism, which serves as a platform to share news, events, and trends related to the Sicilian wine sector. This digital tool reinforces Assovini Sicilia’s presence on the global stage, facilitating connections with wine enthusiasts and professionals worldwide.
Assovini Sicilia’s participation in FINE 2025 represents an invaluable opportunity for wine professionals and enthusiasts to discover the richness and diversity of Sicilian viticulture. Their dedication to quality, innovation, and the promotion of authentic wine tourism experiences positions Sicily as a top-tier wine destination. Attendees are invited to visit the Assovini Sicilia stand at the fair for detailed information about the associated wineries and the experiences they offer, or to explore their official website to plan future visits and tastings.
