In the splendorous Duero Valley, Abadía Retuerta stands out as an emblem of excellence in wine tourism.

With a history that fuses tradition and modernity, this winery is preparing for its participation in FINE, the prestigious wine tourism fair. Throughout this edition, to be held on 13 and 14 March, Abadía Retuerta will present its commitment to quality and innovation in the world of wine tourism, offering a window into its unique experiences, which combine the best of gastronomy, wellness and wine culture.

A Michelin star that looks to Europe

In the heart of Valladolid, Abadía Retuerta stands as a sanctuary for lovers of wine and good food.

The history of the Abadía Retuerta winery is as rich and fascinating as its wines. Founded at the end of the 12th century, the Abadía de Santa María de Retuerta, located on the banks of the Duero River in the municipality of Sardón de Duero, has been a crucial witness to the evolution of the region.

It was not until 1988 that the estate became the property of the Novartis Group, which successfully resumed the ancestral winemaking activity at the Bodega Abadía Retuerta, today known as Abadia Retuerta Le Domaine.

The winery, as it is known today, was started in 1996 by the French vigneron Pascal Delbeck. The historic vineyard was reborn and unique wines were created, reflecting the rich winemaking tradition of the area. The winery, with 700 hectares of which almost 500 hectares of forest and woodland repopulated with native varieties, is located in a perfect enclave for vine cultivation, benefiting from the climatic conditions of the Douro Valley, with cold winters and hot summers, and a wide temperature variation between day and night.

With its Refectorio restaurant, awarded a Michelin star and a Green star, it offers a culinary experience that goes beyond the conventional. The restaurant’s philosophy focuses on a cuisine that honours local and seasonal produce, where each dish is a work of art that perfectly complements the winery’s wines.

At Vinoteca and Calicata Terroir Bar, meanwhile, the experience becomes more relaxed but equally sophisticated. These spaces offer a varied selection of wines and dishes that reflect the gastronomic richness of the region. The Terraza de la Hospedería and El Jardín del Claustro, open seasonally, provide unique settings to enjoy local cuisine with breathtaking views.

An oasis of well-being and culture

Abadía Retuerta not only delights the palate, but also invites you to immerse yourself in a world of wellness and culture. The internationally renowned Santuario Wellness & Spa offers unique and personalised treatments, creating a space for relaxation and rejuvenation.

The winery also organises nature-based experiences, such as the Harvest, the Mycological Experience and the Beekeeping Day, which allow visitors to connect with the environment and learn about local production. The Star Experiences and the Astronomical Observation take advantage of the clear skies of the Duero Valley to offer magical moments under the stars.

In addition, Abadía Retuerta is a pioneer in its educational approach to wine with the Terroir Academy, where knowledge of the terroir and its influence on the wines is explored in depth.
