Monte la Reina: an excellent wine tourism destination at FINE 2025

Monte la Reina, located in Toro, Zamora, stands as a wine tourism reference that combines winemaking tradition, historical heritage, and a unique range of experiences. Its participation in the upcoming edition of FINE, on the 5th and 6th of March, highlights its commitment to promoting wine culture and quality tourism in the region.
A witness to the area’s evolution
The origin of Monte la Reina dates back to the 11th century, when the Crown of Castile granted the town of Toro the privilege of exploiting this hill in recognition of its loyalty. In the 19th century, the first Count of Villapadierna built a neo-Gothic palace on the estate, which today houses a charming boutique hotel known as “El Castillo.” This building, with eight rooms decorated in a modern style, has witnessed the estate’s evolution over the centuries.
In 1983, José Miguel Inaraja de la Calle acquired the estate and began its rehabilitation. Initially dedicated to crops such as maize, potatoes, and beetroot, the estate diversified its activity towards viticulture in response to the rise of the Toro Denomination of Origin. The first vines were planted, and after years of supplying grapes to other wineries, the Inaraja family decided in 2004 to produce their own wines, thus consolidating Monte la Reina’s winemaking identity.
