Bodega Otazu: the perfect blend of history, art and the flavours of wine in the heart of Navarre

Just eight kilometres from Pamplona, nestled between the Perdón and Sarbil mountain ranges, Bodega Otazu stands as a benchmark for wine tourism in Spain. Its participation in FINE 2025 underscores its commitment to promoting wine culture, art, and nature.
The first steps taken in the middle ages
The winemaking history of Otazu dates back to the Middle Ages when its wines were made for royalty. The historical core of the Señorío de Otazu comprises a 12th-century Romanesque church dedicated to Saint Stephen, a 14th-century defensive tower and dovecote, and a 16th-century Renaissance palace.
In 1840, the old winery was built in the French architectural style, being the first in Navarre constructed outside the urban area. This historical ensemble reflects the region’s rich winemaking tradition.

Tourism as a Key Part of the Otazu Philosophy
Otazu stands out for its innovative approach and firm commitment to quality. It is the northernmost vineyard with Protected Designation of Origin (D.O.P.) Pago in Spain, giving its wines unique characteristics. The winery has been recognised for placing the world of wine on the same cultural level as great works of contemporary art, emphatically showcasing the union of wine with history, nature, and art.
