Quinta da Pedra Alta: a wine tourism gem in the heart of Douro

Quinta da Pedra Alta

Located in Soutelinho-Favaios, in the Cima Corgo sub-region of the Douro Valley, Quinta da Pedra Alta stands as a historical and oenological reference. This winery, high above the Pinhão River, combines tradition and modernity to offer a first-class wine tourism experience. In its participation in the International Wine Tourism Fair (FINE), Quinta da Pedra Alta stands out as an essential destination for wine and culture lovers.

History and tradition: roots in the land of Oporto

The origins of Quinta da Pedra Alta date back to the 18th century, when it was consolidated as part of the demarcated region of Porto, a historical fact marked by the three Feitoria granite markers present on the property. These markers, installed between 1758 and 1761, are a symbol of the region’s wine heritage and make Quinta da Pedra Alta the only estate with three of these historical relics.

After decades dedicated to the production of grapes for high quality Port wines, the winery underwent a transformation in the 1990s and early 2000s, with the introduction of DOC Douro wines. The acquisition by new owners in 2018 marked the beginning of a new phase, characterised by significant investment in the vineyards, the winery and the renewal of its brand, led by winemaker João Pires.
