Viña Costeira: an exceptional wine tourism experience
In the fifth edition of FINE #WineTourism Marketplace, to be held on 13 and 14 March 2024, Viña Costeira will be a protagonist winery, inviting attendees to learn in depth about its exceptional wine tourism proposal.
With its origins back in 1968, Viña Costeira emerged as an innovative and visionary winery in the Galician wine scene. Its initial mission focused on the recovery of historic Galician grape varieties such as Loureira, Godello, Albariño and Treixadura. This combination of respect for tradition and a progressive approach has cemented Viña Costeira as a robust brand, rooted in tradition and constant innovation.
Discovering the winery in depth
The wine tourism experience at Viña Costeira is as diverse as its wines. Its vineyards, distributed in different locations, offer a unique vision of the region’s wine heritage.
Finca Saa, a boutique winery made up of four small plots on hillsides and terraces, majestically overlooks the Miño valley. Its privileged location and southeast orientation favour the optimal ripening of Treixadura, Ribeiro’s main grape.
The Pazo de Toubes, a jewel of 18th century rural heritage located in Riobó, Cenlle, represents the essence of the true origin of Ribeiro. With sandy soils and a variable altitude, each plot of this pazo offers unique characteristics that enrich the production of varieties such as Treixadura, Albariño and Loureira.
The Adega Vella Estate, located on the banks of the Avia River in Leiro, symbolises the legacy and continuity of traditional techniques in the vineyard. Its granitic soil is the perfect setting for Treixadura, Viña Costeira’s star variety.
In the highlands of Larouco, the Abelleira estate stands out for its work in the recovery of native Galician grapes. At 550 metres above sea level, its sandy loam soils are ideal for varieties such as Mencía and Godello.
The O Carqueixal Estate, located in Gomariz, is recognised as one of the best wine-growing areas in Ribeiro. At an altitude of 300 metres, this estate produces grapes of extreme quality, essential for the perfect “coupage” of Colección 68.
The Finca Coio Branco project, located in Castrelo de Miño, focuses on the recovery and valorisation of vineyards of native varieties. Its sandy loam soils are the ideal terrain for growing the Treixadura grape, used in the production of unique sparkling wines.
Finally, Viña Costeira’s most emblematic vineyard, Finca San Cibrao, is located in the heart of Ribeiro. From its viewpoint you can enjoy the best views of the Avia and Miño valleys, a perfect setting for wine tourism routes and to appreciate the magic of the Ribeiro.
Wine tourism activities in Costeira Vineyard
In addition to the beauty and uniqueness of its vineyards, Viña Costeira offers a wide range of wine tourism activities.
