FINE AND THE SPANISH CONFEDERATION OF TRAVEL AGENCIES RENEW THEIR COLLABORATION AGREEMENT

Feria de Valladolid and the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV) have renewed the collaboration agreement they signed in 2019 to publicise and promote FINE #WineTourismExpo, the international wine tourism fair, which will be held in its third edition on 1 and 2 March 2022.

FINE is an initiative with the primary aim of helping to develop wine tourism by providing companies, regions and professional groups with a forum for business.

‘Travel agencies are one of the most important professional groups for wine tourism development; they are the channel for informing consumers of the multiple options available for this tourism all year round, at any destination’, said Alberto Alonso, managing director of Feria de Valladolid.

For his part, CEAV President Carlos Garrido de la Cierva pointed out that wine tourism helps to diversify the destination model, providing opportunities for reducing seasonality, diversification and helping to avoid overcrowding in saturated areas. ‘This type of tourism is also capable of attracting high-quality tourists who are more willing to spend money and more respectful of local culture’, he said.

CEAV is made up of 28 business associations in the sector, which in turn bring together more than 5,000 travel agencies throughout Spain, wholesalers and retailers, employing around 60,000 professionals at more than 7,000 points of sale.

The latest edition of FINE #WineTourismExpo brought together a hundred wineries, regions and buyers from 16 countries that held more than 2,000 pre-arranged job interviews, a 42 percent increase over the first edition.
